A Memorial Square sequence gathers the largest recorded cast. Whippy is the one absence consistently retained after the competing drafts are compared.

Thacker is the face of the case. DCI Reid is his boss and the operational lead; Crocker is the hard-to-avoid explainer, and Anne is the domestic and emotional counterweight whose own history keeps entering the frame.
Household account
The released full chat makes Salmon's home part of the early serial's working geography. Sandy Salmon is not a background extra: the household scenes, neighbours and deliveries are a recurring counterpoint to the case work, and the house sits opposite Oli's.
The north-moor file
First proposed as a Crocker-led Thacker spin-off, the Tale begins on the north Whapperton moors and later breaks back into the central serial. Its strongest recurring images are a bloodshot opening, a long moorland view and an entity whose role changes whenever the writers return to it.

The full chat: the newly released record anchors the early run at the Happy Chicken, the station office and Salmon House before the narrative widens through Memorial Park, the Square and the north moors. Ian Crocker and DCI Reid now have enough direct material to stand as developed leads alongside Thacker and Anne.
