Jed Jedson was born in Ancoats in 1964 to a refuse-worker father and dinner-lady mother. His early path ran through door work in Bury, one term of business studies at Bury College and a North Tyneside placement in refuse administration before he became the Jedson attached to Whapperton's musical record. He shared the flat in the early years, left late one January and remains connected to the long-running Jedson Leather story.
