Borough canon
Chris Tulip is Whapperton's repeatedly referenced comedian. His work is heard on a recording during the Thacker sequence, he is routinely discussed as a bill-topper at the town's sole comedy club, and the archive records his particular habit of turning up when a scene is already too crowded. His jokes are not catalogued verbatim, which is a kindness to both history and timing.
